Mix the meat: In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Do not overmix, or the burgers will become tough.
Form patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties about ¾-inch thick. Press a small dimple in the center of each patty to prevent them from shrinking and puffing up while cooking.
Preheat: Heat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
