  1. In a heavy pot or Dutch oven fry the bacon until done.

  2. Add the onions and cook over medium-high heat until golden.

  3. Add the bell peppers and garlic and cook for another 2 minutes.

  4. Add the beef and cook for a minute.

  5. Stir in 4 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika (and YES, that's TABLESPOONS 😃).

  6. Remove from the heat (paprika gets bitter when fried).

  7. Add tomatoes.

  8. Add just a little water so that the water does not cover the meat.

  9. Return the saucepan to the heat and bring to a boil.

  10. Reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for 90 minutes.

  11. Bring to a boil over high heat then reduce heat so it's simmering rapidly.

  12. Cook 15 minutes or until potatoes are very soft.

  13. Add 50g / 3 tbsp unsalted butter and ½ cup (120 ml) warm whole milk.
