Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, add 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, ¾ cup brown sugar, and ¼ teaspoon salt Stir until everything is evenly distributed.
Add Wet Ingredients: To the dry mixture add ½ cup + 2 tablespoons melted butter, and 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract. Mix using an electric mixer on low speed until medium-sized crumbs form. Be careful not to overmix—once crumbs have formed, stop mixing.
Scrape the Bowl: Use a spoon to scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl. This ensures there’s no hidden flour left behind.
Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently stir in ½ cup semisweet or dark chocolate chips with a spoon, making sure not to compress or clump the crumb mixture too much.
