Jamaican Beef Patties
  1. Prepare the patty dough by combining flour, salt, sugar, turmeric or curry powder, and turmeric powder

  2. Cut in cold butter or shortening until mixture resembles breadcrumbs

  3. Gradually add ice-cold water until dough comes together

  4. Prepare the beef filling by heating oil and sautéing onion and garlic

  5. Add ground beef and cook until browned

  6. Stir in green onions, curry powder, all-purpose seasoning, paprika, cayenne pepper, thyme, black pepper, and salt

  7. Add beef broth or water and simmer

  8. Mix breadcrumbs with milk and cornstarch, then add to the beef mixture

  9. Season with soy sauce and browning, then let cool

  10. Roll out dough and cut into patty shapes

  11. Fill each patty with beef filling

  12. Seal edges and brush with egg wash made from beaten egg and water

  13. Bake until golden brown
