In a small bowl, add warm water (90 degrees), sugar, and yeast. Whisk until bubbles form, cover with a towel and set aside for 10 minutes.
In a larger bowl, mix flour and salt. In another bowl, melt butter and honey together.
Once yeast is active and has a foam layer, add the yeast liquid to the flour mixture and add the melted butter and honey. Mix until dough is well incorporated with no dry spots.
Cover dough and let rise for 1 hour in a warm place (such as an oven with the light on).
Once dough has doubled in size, punch it down and divide into 2 pieces.
Form loaves by folding dough into itself several times, then roll and fold/pinch the ends into the underside.
Place each loaf into a buttered loaf pan, cover, and let rise for a second time for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 360 degrees.
Bake loaves for 20-25 minutes until golden and desired crust color is achieved.
Butter the top of the loaves and remove from pans. Place on a cooling rack to cool completely before slicing.
