Begin by cutting the whole onion through the root end to keep it intact.
In a pot, combine the onion, two cans of San Marzano or other whole peeled tomatoes, ten tablespoons of grass-fed butter, and a generous amount of sea salt.
Stir the mixture together and place it on the stove over high heat.
Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to a low simmer, stirring constantly.
Allow it to simmer for 45 minutes, or until the onions become very soft.
