Pudding Chômeur
  1. Combine 2 cups brown sugar, 1 ½ cups water, ½ cup maple syrup, and 1 tablespoon flour in a saucepan

  2. Bring the syrup mixture to a boil and set aside

  3. Mix together 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder, and a pinch of salt

  4. Cream together ½ cup room temperature butter and 1 cup sugar

  5. Add 2 eggs to the butter and sugar mixture

  6. Add ¾ cup milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla to the mixture

  7. Combine the wet and dry ingredients together, mixing slowly at first then using a spatula

  8. Grease a baking dish with butter and spread the cake batter at the bottom

  9. Pour the hot syrup mixture over the cake batter

  10. Bake at 425°F for 30-40 minutes until golden on top

  11. Allow to cool before serving

  12. Scoop and serve with the cake rising through the syrup
