Measure the baking soda: Add exactly ¼ teaspoon of pure sodium bicarbonate to a clean glass. Do not substitute baking powder. Precision matters. More does not improve results.
Dissolve in cold water: Pour 8 oz of cold filtered water over the baking soda. Stir for 20 seconds until fully dissolved and the liquid clears.
Add the lemon juice: Squeeze 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice directly into the glass. Stir gently. A brief fizz begins immediately. Wait 20 to 30 seconds for it to settle before drinking.
Add ice and optional ingredients: Drop in 4 to 6 ice cubes. Add a pinch of pink Himalayan salt or ½ teaspoon honey if using. Stir gently one more time.
