Gyros without Rotisserie by Steve Owens (modified)
  1. Preheat oven to 180C / 350F.

  2. Combine the meat, egg, onion, and spices in a large bowl. Mix very well.

  3. Transfer the meat mixture to a loaf tin or two and press down firmly.

  4. Bake for 30 minutes until the top is golden brown.

  5. Remove the meat loaf from the tin and place on a baking tray. Bake for another 30 minutes to get a nice caramelized surface.

  6. Let the meat settle for 15-20 minutes before slicing.

  7. Serve in pita bread with tzatziki sauce, diced onion, tomato, cucumber, and lettuce.

I edited original recipe to remove breadcrumbs replacing with egg.
