Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Take the hot dogs and pat them dry to ensure the dough sticks properly.
Unroll your crescent dough and cut it into thin strips. Wrap these strips around each hot dog. Be sure to leave a little bit of the hot dog uncovered at the top to place the cheese star later.
Place your wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Slide them into the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is puffed up and golden brown.
Once your hot dogs have cooled enough to handle, carefully insert a skewer into the end of each hot dog.
Cut out star shapes from your thickly sliced cheddar cheese. You can use a cookie cutter or a knife to do this. Then, gently press the star onto the skewer at the top of the hot dog.
