Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and kosher salt in a bowl
Add butter and mix until combined
Add buttermilk gradually until the dough holds together with no floury bits remaining at the bottom of the bowl
Shape dough into a rectangle on a work surface
Fold the dough in half, then fold it back over itself one more time to create layers
Roll or pat the dough to approximately 1 inch thick
Cut out 8 biscuits from the dough
Bake according to standard biscuit baking instructions until golden brown and risen
