  1. Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and kosher salt in a bowl

  2. Add butter and mix until combined

  3. Add buttermilk gradually until the dough holds together with no floury bits remaining at the bottom of the bowl

  4. Shape dough into a rectangle on a work surface

  5. Fold the dough in half, then fold it back over itself one more time to create layers

  6. Roll or pat the dough to approximately 1 inch thick

  7. Cut out 8 biscuits from the dough

  8. Bake according to standard biscuit baking instructions until golden brown and risen
