Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of unflavored gelatin powder over 2 tablespoons of cold water in a mug or bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes without stirring until the gelatin swells and thickens.
Pour 8 oz of warm water over the bloomed gelatin. Use water that is warm but not boiling, around 140 to 160 degrees F, to preserve the collagen proteins.
