Brown garlic in a pan, don't burn
Add to chopped tomatoes in a large stockpot
Add 5-6 cups of water, begin to boil
Prepare saute of chopped onion & celery, when browned, add to pot
Prepare saute of carrot & bell pepper, when heated, add to pot
Juice the lime into the pot
Add chopped habanero to the pot
Add all seasonings & salt to the pot
Stir, allow about 10-15 minutes of boiling & stirring, then reduce to simmer
Skim the pot for the whole garlic and begin squishing it against the side of the pot to smash it down, or against a spoon
Allow to simmer for about 30-40 minutes, continuing to 'fish' for garlic and smashing it down
Add sweet potatoes, continue to simmer until sweet potatoes are the right softness for your preference

Ps. sometimes i add a can of white pinto beans, and an extra cup of water.
Also, you can adjust/experiment with the seasonings that you like to use. sometimes i'll use fresh seasonings if i have the money for them.
The garlic, tomato, habanero are the base recipe of this soup that i started with, everything else i gradually experimented with adding to it.
