Southern Candied Sweet Potatoes
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange evenly sliced sweet potatoes in a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. In a saucepan, melt butter. Add sugars and water, stir until glossy and thickened.

  3. Remove from heat. Stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt.

  4. Pour syrup over potatoes, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes.

  5. Uncover and bake 20–25 minutes more, basting with syrup until glossy and caramelized.

  6. Let cool slightly before serving for the perfect syrupy texture.
