  1. Use unsalted butter

  4. Add the molasses and egg

  5. Add the vanilla extract

  6. Grate the ginger

  7. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt

  8. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined

  9. Top with coarse sugar
