Slather melted butter all over a loaf tin. [Mrs Bailey makes individual little cakes, but that’s Honey Cakes 2.0; I thought I’d start with a sliceable singleton.] Preheat the oven to gas mark 3, 325F.
Mix all the dry ingredients in one bowl, all the wet ones in another. It helps to warm the honey with the butter, beat them together thoroughly, then add the eggs, gingers and orange.
Fold the dry into the wet with a light hand, just until you’re not seeing dry flour any more.
Pour into the loaf tin and bake for an hour and twenty minutes. Cool on a rack.
