Homemade Sub Sandwich Rolls
  1. Mix 1 cup warm water, 1 tbsp sugar, and 2 ¼ tsp yeast together and let sit for a few minutes until foamy

  2. In a separate bowl, combine 2 ¾ cups flour, 1 ½ tsp salt, and 1 tbsp olive oil

  3. Add the foamy yeast mixture to the flour mixture and knead for a few minutes

  4. Add ¼ cup more flour and knead until you have a slightly tacky dough ball

  5. Oil your bowl and rub the oil around the dough, then cover and let sit for about an hour until doubled

  6. Punch down the dough and knead on your counter for a few minutes, sprinkling with flour if too sticky

  7. Divide dough into 4 equal parts

  8. Use a rolling pin to roll each part into a thin rectangle

  9. Roll up tight, pinch seams together, and place on a baking sheet with parchment paper

  10. Cover and let rise for 30-40 minutes

  11. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes

  12. Brush tops with butter if desired
