  1. Pat dry the tofu, cut in thick slices and fry in oil on both sides.

  2. Finely chop the garlic and spring onion.

  3. Mix the chili flakes, sesame oil, soy sauce, water, and syrup or sugar.

  4. Add the sauce to the tofu and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes.
