Scottish Flapjacks
  1. Add the butter, sugar and syrup to a pan and gently heat until the sugar has melted and the ingredients are combined

  2. Add the salt and spices if using, then stir through the oats until they are well coated

  3. Press into your lined tray

  4. Bake at 180°C fan oven for 15 minutes till golden brown

  5. Score while warm

  6. When cooled cut into squares with a sharp knife
