In a pot over medium heat melt butter until it browns/foams, about 2 minutes
Add dates and ½ cup water and cook until the dates soften (about 2 minutes)
Use the back of a wooden spoon to make the dates into a paste
Add oats, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon
Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the oats are cooked through and desired consistency is reached
Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and drizzle with heavy cream
