Buding “Italian Custard”
  1. Combine sugar and flour with one cup of milk at a time.

  2. Cook over low heat, stirring until slightly thickens.

  3. Remove from fire and let cool (covered).

  4. When cool, add 1 teaspoon vanilla, 5 eggs.

  5. Beat with beater until smooth.

  6. Add ½ jigger rum (optional).

  7. Melt 10 tablespoons sugar in tube pan until brown.

  8. Roll sugar around pan, add filling.

  9. Put pan in little water while baking and bake for 1 hour at 350°F.

  10. Turn over when very cool.
