Apple Fritters Bread

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¼ teaspoon ground allspice

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup sour cream

2 cups peeled, cored, and chopped apples

½ cup chopped pecans (optional)

¼ cup granulated sugar (for topping)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)

    Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.

  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.

  5. Mix in sour cream until just combined.

  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  7. Fold in chopped apples and pecans, if using.

  8. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

  9. In a small bowl, combine cinnamon sugar topping ingredients and sprinkle evenly over the batter.

  10. Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  11. Allow bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
