Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line and grease an 8-inch cake pan.
Beat eggs and sugar on high speed for 7–8 minutes until pale and fluffy.
Sift flour and salt together. Fold gently into egg mixture in batches.
Add vanilla extract and fold gently.
Pour into prepared pan and tap lightly to remove air bubbles.
Bake for 22–25 minutes until golden and springy to touch.
Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.
