Bring salted water to a rolling boil.
Add Janie’s Mill Cracked Wheat or Cracked Rye.
Stir briskly for a minute, then turn the heat down to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until almost all of the water has been absorbed.
Add ¼ cup of cream or milk of your choice. Keep on low heat for another few minutes, but don’t let the milk boil.
Add 1 cup of raisins or other dried fruit and briskly stir the fruit into the creamy porridge. Put the lid on the pot and let it sit for 3-4 minutes to let the fruit hydrate and the cream soak into the cracked grains. Stir again and serve, topped with more cream, butter, brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, or cinnamon if you like.
