Beat sugar and butter together in a large bowl until creamy.
Add chilled applesauce and beat well until smooth.
Stir in flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves until just combined.
Fold in walnuts and raisins gently.
Spoon batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
Bake for about 40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
