Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, eggs, and granulated sugar until well combined.
In a separate medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the bars cool completely in the pan.
While the bars are cooling, prepare the frosting. In a medium bowl, beat together softened cream cheese, softened butter, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until the frosting is light and fluffy.
Once the pumpkin bars are completely cool, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.
Cut into bars and serve.
