Finnish Pasties
  1. Combine flour and salt in a mixing bowl.

  2. Cut in lard. Blend in egg, vinegar and water. Chill dough.

  3. Meanwhile, combine potatoes, carrots, meat, onion, rutabaga, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and poultry seasoning.

  4. Roll out dough into six to seven 6-in. rounds.

  5. Place about ½ cup of filling on half of each circle.

  6. Put a pat of butter on filling; fold other half of dough over filling and pinch edges to seal.

  7. Combine egg and water; brush over pasties.

  8. Make steam vents with fork.

  9. Bake at 375° for 15 minutes; reduce heat to 350° and bake 1 hour longer.

  10. Yield: 6-7 pasties.
