Turkey Apple Grilled Cheese
  1. Thinly slice the green apple.

  2. Spread mustard on one side of the bread. Layer on gruyere cheese.

  3. Next, add a handful of spinach and a couple of turkey slices followed by a few slices of the apple.

  4. Lastly, add one more layer of gruyere cheese and top with the other slice of bread. You want the order to be (from bottom to top): bread, mustard, cheese, spinach, turkey, apple, cheese, bread.

  5. Preheat a pan over low to medium heat on your camp stove. It is very important that you cook this grilled cheese low and slow! If your heat is too high, you will burn the bread before the cheese melts, and no one wants that.

  6. Add some butter or oil to the pan and then the assembled sandwich. Flip the grilled cheese every 4-5 minutes and cook until the cheese has fully melted. This usually takes 10-15 minutes, but again, low and slow is important, so if it takes longer, that’s fine!

  7. Optional: Carefully cover your pan with aluminum foil to keep the heat in and melt the cheese faster.

  8. Once the cheese has melted, remove the grilled cheese from the heat and serve!
