Fried Cabbage
  1. Cut cabbage head in half lengthwise then remove and discard the core

  2. Chop cabbage into 1½-inch pieces

  3. Heat bacon grease in a large (12-inch) cast iron skillet over medium

  4. Add cabbage to hot grease and cook, stirring often, until soft and beginning to brown, about 15 to 20 minutes

  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then serve
