Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Take an 8 by 9 inch pan and put the entire stick of butter in it.
Place the pan with butter in the oven to melt while the oven heats up.
In a separate bowl, mix 2 ½ cups of self rising flour with 2 cups of buttermilk.
Mix until well combined, but do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
Once the butter is melted and the oven is preheated, carefully pour the batter into the pan over the melted butter.
Gently spread the batter evenly across the pan, ensuring it covers the butter without mixing into it.
Use a knife or cake cutter to divide the batter into biscuit shapes in the pan.
Place the pan in the preheated oven for approximately 20 minutes.
Check the biscuits around 10 minutes in and consider turning the pan for even cooking.
Remove biscuits from the oven and let them rest for about 5 minutes to absorb the butter.
