Warm the milk to lukewarm
Add yeast and mix together all wet ingredients in a bowl
Whisk the egg before combining
Add the bread flour gradually and mix until a soft dough forms
Rest the dough (covered) for about 15 minutes
Continue kneading until the gluten has started to develop and the dough comes together
Add salt and knead for 2-3 more minutes till the dough passes a light windowpane test
Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour
Gently shape into a loaf
Place into a buttered 9x5 loaf pan
Cover and let rise until puffy but still slightly springy when pressed, about 20-30 minutes
Preheat oven to 350F
Whisk the egg wash ingredients together and brush lightly over the loaf
Bake for 30-35 minutes
Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then remove and cool completely before slicing
