For the sauce
Preheat your oven to 325F.
In a bowl, combine the flour and baking powder, set aside.
In a new bowl, beat the sugar and butter together, then alternate and combine the flour and milk.
Lightly grease a 13x9 pan and pour the batter in. To make the syrup, combine all of the ingredients in a pot. Boil for 2 minutes.
Gently pour the syrup over the batter (use a ladle or large spoon to gently pour it on top. Don't stress if the sauce goes through the batter!! It will still be good).
Bake for 40-45 minutes.
Serve warm. To reheat, bake at 300F until warm.
