Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar cookie mix, melted butter, and almond extract.
Press mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are light golden brown.
Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
