Traditional Pound Cake Recipe
  1. Combine the 2 sticks of softened unsalted butter, ½ cup of Crisco, and 3 cups of sugar until well blended.

  2. Add the 5 extra large eggs, one at a time, while continuously blending with a stand mixer.

  3. Mix 1 cup of all-purpose flour, then ½ cup of buttermilk, then 1 cup of flour, the rest of the buttermilk, ending with all-purpose flour. Scrape the sides down between each ingredient addition for well blending.

  4. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and ¼ teaspoon of baking powder.

  5. Let the mixture mix on medium speed for 10 minutes.

  6. Transfer the batter to a Bundt pan and bake in a cold oven at 300°F for 1.5 hours or until a toothpick comes out clean and dry.
