Red cabbage steaks
  1. Cut the red cabbage into slices about 2–3 cm thick.

  2. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, smoked paprika powder, salt, thyme, garlic, mustard and maple syrup.

  3. Place the red cabbage slices on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

  4. Generously spread the marinade on both sides of the steaks and massage in lightly.

  5. Preheat the oven to 200 °C top/bottom heat (180 °C fan oven).

  6. Bake the red cabbage steaks in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes until they are slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

  7. Turn them once in between so that they cook evenly.

  8. Serve the red cabbage steaks straight from the oven with mashed potatoes, gravy, salad or a creamy dip.
