Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan 160°C)
Drain the pears, reserving 160ml of the juice and set the whole pears aside
Microwave the butter (or melt in the same pan you'll be using in the oven)
Add flour, sugar, pear juice and eggs to the melted butter and mix until you have a smooth batter
Arrange the whole pears on top of the batter (or dice them up and fold through if you prefer)
Bake for 20-25 minutes, until risen, golden, and a skewer comes out clean
