Start by trimming the artichoke: cut off the stem and remove the sharp tips of the leaves. Trim a small portion off the top as well.
Place the artichoke in a bowl filled with a little water, ensuring it is facing down. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or damp paper towels.
Microwave the artichoke for 12 minutes, ideally in two intervals of 6 minutes each.
While the artichoke is cooking, prepare the butter dip by melting together the garlic, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and butter in a small saucepan.
Once the artichoke is done, carefully remove it from the bowl and drizzle a bit of lemon juice over it before serving.
