Jollibee-style Honey Beef
  1. Cut the beef slices into smaller, bite-sized pieces.

  2. Dice the onion into large chunks and set aside.

  3. In a pan over medium heat, add a bit of oil and sauté the onions until they develop a light sear but are not fully softened.

  4. Add the beef and cook until browned and caramelized.

  5. Season with a pinch of kosher salt and black pepper.

  6. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  7. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.

  8. Add the flour and whisk constantly for about 1 minute to form a light roux.

  9. Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, water, and honey.

  10. Stir well and bring to a boil.

  11. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and cook for about 4 minutes, or until slightly thickened.

  12. Reserve about ½ cup of the sauce for serving.

  13. Add the cooked beef and onions to the remaining sauce and stir until everything is well coated and heated through.

  14. Spoon the honey beef over a bed of steamed rice and drizzle with the extra sauce.

  15. Serve hot and enjoy!
