  1. Peel the pears and then slice into 6 equal slices

  2. In a large saucepan, combine red wine, sugar, cinnamon stick, orange rind, and vanilla bean.

  3. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring until sugar dissolves.

  4. Add the pears, ensuring they are mostly submerged.

  5. Simmer gently for 25–30 minutes, turning occasionally until tender but still holding shape.

  6. Remove pears with a slotted spoon and set aside.

  7. Continue simmering the wine mixture until reduced to a syrupy sauce.

  8. Serve pears warm or at room temperature with syrup drizzled on top and yogurt or ice cream on the side.
