Peel the pears and then slice into 6 equal slices
In a large saucepan, combine red wine, sugar, cinnamon stick, orange rind, and vanilla bean.
Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring until sugar dissolves.
Add the pears, ensuring they are mostly submerged.
Simmer gently for 25–30 minutes, turning occasionally until tender but still holding shape.
Remove pears with a slotted spoon and set aside.
Continue simmering the wine mixture until reduced to a syrupy sauce.
Serve pears warm or at room temperature with syrup drizzled on top and yogurt or ice cream on the side.
