Start with 2 cups sugar and the zest of 8 lemons.
Massage the sugar and zest to extract the oils from the zest, giving you that natural lemon flavor.
Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil, then kill the heat right away.
Strain the syrup, and optionally run it through a coffee filter for a super clear syrup.
Add 1 whole lemon and sweeten with the lemon syrup.
Top it off with water.
