Dal Makhani - Black Lentil Dahl
  1. Sauté the onion in the oil and butter until soft, try not to brown then onion

  2. Then add the garlic and ginger and cook for 2-3 mins

  3. Now add the spice and toast on the pan for 2-3 this will enhance the flavour

  4. Now add the uncooked lentils, followed by the water and tomato purée

  5. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 15 - 20 mins stirring regularly until lentils are cooked

  6. Now add drained cook kidney beans and crush roughly with a potato masher

  7. Add a splash more water at this point if necessary

  8. Now add the cream and stir in for 2-3 minutes then serve and garnish
