Sauté the onion in the oil and butter until soft, try not to brown then onion
Then add the garlic and ginger and cook for 2-3 mins
Now add the spice and toast on the pan for 2-3 this will enhance the flavour
Now add the uncooked lentils, followed by the water and tomato purée
Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 15 - 20 mins stirring regularly until lentils are cooked
Now add drained cook kidney beans and crush roughly with a potato masher
Add a splash more water at this point if necessary
Now add the cream and stir in for 2-3 minutes then serve and garnish
