In a large bowl, stir together the flour, coffee grounds, salt, and sand until evenly combined.
Slowly pour in the water while mixing. Add just enough to form a dough that holds its shape but isn’t sticky—adjust with a splash of water or a sprinkle of flour as needed.
Pinch off a handful of dough, flatten it, place a small treasure in the center, then wrap the dough around the item and shape it into a ball or rock. Repeat with the remaining dough and treasures.
Dry the treasure stones:
Leave on a baking tray for 1–2 days, turning occasionally.
Bake at 200 °F (95 °C) for 20–30 minutes, or until completely dry and hard.
Once cool, hand the “rocks” to kids to crack open and discover what’s inside.
