Line the air fryer with parchment paper. Have 8 wooden skewers ready.
Add the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt to a mixing bowl. Whisk it to blend it well.
Stir in the egg, milk, and melted butter. Let the batter sit for 5 to 10 minutes to absorb the moisture. It will get a little thicker.
Dry the hot dogs off with a paper towel. Then, Insert a wooden skewer halfway into the end of each hot dog.
Dip the hot dogs into the batter. Twirl them around to coat all the sides of the hot dogs.
Place the hot dogs in the air fryer, spacing them at least ½ inch apart. Spray them with oil if desired.
Set the air fryer to 370°F and cook the corn dogs for 10 to 12 minutes or until brown and crispy. You may need to cook them in batches if they don't all fit in the basket.
