Preheat oven to 350° F.
Grease 2 baking sheets or line the baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, stir together sugar, peanut butter, egg, and baking soda. Fold in chocolate chips.
Using a small ice cream scooper, divide the cookie dough into 12 balls on prepared baking sheets.
Freeze or refrigerate for 10 minutes to keep the cookie dough from spreading.
Bake until golden brown, about 10 to 12 minutes.
Cool cookies on the baking sheets for 5 minutes.
Transfer to wire racks, and let cool completely about 10 minutes.
