Chris's Fruit Scone Recipe
  1. Preheat oven to 200 C / 390F (conventional oven) or 180 C / 355F (fan oven).

  2. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.

  3. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

  4. Whisk the eggs and buttermilk together.

  5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix to form a soft dough. Add a drop more buttermilk if needed.

  6. Gently fold in the raisins.

  7. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it down to about 2 inches thick.

  8. Cut out scones using a round cutter.

  9. Place scones on a baking tray.

  10. Brush the tops with the egg wash.

  11. Bake for 18 minutes.
