Trifle
  1. Layer the sponge cake or ladyfingers in the bottom of a trifle dish.

  2. Top with a layer of fruit.

  3. Pour over a little sherry or fruit juice (if using).

  4. Add a layer of custard.

  5. Top with a layer of whipped cream.

  6. Repeat the layers until the dish is full, finishing with whipped cream.

  7. Chill the trifle in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
