Preheat the oven to 405F/200C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small measuring cup, whisk together heavy whipping cream, sour cream and an egg.
In the large bowl add flour, frozen cubed butter and using your pastry knife quickly mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Add sugar, salt, baking powder and garlic powder. Whisk dry ingredients.
Refrigerate for 10-15 min for butter to firm up a little.
Shred cheddar cheese and chopped chives.
Add cheese into dry ingredients, mix.
Make a small hole in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the egg mixture.
Gently mix together with a fork and chives.
Mix until the dough just comes together like on the video.
Transfer unfinished dough onto the table and form the dough into disc, cut in half and add on the top of each other (repeat this step 6 times).
Lightly press on it and cut in half once more.
Afterwards form a rectangle somewhere ½ inch thick.
Using a scraper cut into 8 rectangles like on the video.
Line them on the parchment paper not too far from each other (it will help scones to raise evenly).
Freeze scones to firm the butter back up for about 30-35 minutes.
Brush with egg wash.
Bake scones until lightly golden brown on the bottom, about 20-25 minutes (everyone’s stove is different so monitor accordingly).
After taking out from the oven brush with melted butter.
Remove to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Serve with hot tea or coffee and Enjoy♥️
