Sift the flour and the baking powder together.
Cream the margarine, sugar and syrup together until soft and light.
Add a little flour and then a little liquid.
Continue to do this until you have a smooth mixture.
Grease and flour two 7 inch sandwich tins and divide mixture between them.
Cook in centre of oven at 200 Celsius for 20-30 minutes.
Cool for 10 minutes before removing from tins.
