Jamaican Beef Patties
  1. Mix flour, sugar, and salt

  2. Add egg yolk, yellow coloring, and ice cold water. Mix into a dough

  3. Knead lightly, cover, and rest 20 minutes

  4. Roll out, spread butter and shortening, then fold to laminate

  5. Chill again, roll out, cut circles, fill, and crimp

  6. Egg wash and bake at 375°F until golden and flaky

  7. Cook ground beef with garlic, bell pepper, onion, green onion, and scotch bonnet

  8. Season with all purpose seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and curry powder

  9. Add soy sauce, ketchup, and browning to the beef mixture

  10. Add chicken or beef broth to the meat mixture

  11. Blend bread with chicken broth to make panan

  12. Add panan to the meat mixture to thicken and keep it moist
