Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
Add tomatoes. Cook 2–3 minutes until softened. Season with pepper.
Sprinkle in 2 tbsp parmesan and stir in chopped basil.
Add pasta and toss everything to combine.
Top with remaining parmesan and serve hot.
